Batak script or also known as Ina ni Surat is consist of 19 characters, Bataknese also call this with Surat si Sapulu Sia. Batak script does not recognize the usage of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and space. Letters without space also known as Scriptio Continua.

Ina ni Surat

At the table bellow, those character is mostly end with a sound. Except for i and u. In the Batak script ᯤ or i and ᯥ or u is just use for open syllable, and for closed syllable is using ᯀ with punctuation instead. Batak script is not recognize core sound like c f k q v x z. Like mostly the nick name of Batak boys called Ucok is written as Unsok or Ussok NOT Ucok.
